This is an interview I did 3 years ago with retired NYC Firefighter Danny Noonan, who just died of cancer. He not only volunteered on the pile right after 9/11 (after he was just diagnosed with leukemia) he was one of 699 FDNY’ers who fought the NY Telephone Company fire in 1975, which had hundreds collapsing at the scene. A harbinger to 9/11, hundreds later got killer cancers. Danny never stopped advocating, not just for the firefighters, but for the community, which was also exposed to the toxins. All Danny wanted was a plaque at the East Village site, to acknowledge what happened. We are still waiting.
