Welcome to F1GMAT's weekend updates for the week ending August 13, 2022. I am Atul Jose.

Darden has now made the open interview available for the Full-Time MBA applicants through Early Actions. The deadline to schedule the interviews is September 8th, 2022.

The perk that Darden’s Early Action Applicants enjoy is that they don't have to wait for an interview. Also, Early Action is the only round in which Darden offers open interviews.

Due to the limited open interview availability, all the Darden MBA applicants must be quick to schedule their interview before the mentioned deadline. Along with this, students can check the additional availability of the open interview released by the Darden Admissions team every week.

Applicants can select the mode of an interview between the on-Ground interviews in Charlottesville, VA, or virtually via Zoom. Both the interview modes will be considered evenly, and no preference will be offered based on the mode of interview.

For the applicants who intend to appear for a virtual interview, the availability will be released on an ongoing basis from 15th August through 16th September 2022. Applicants must schedule their interviews by the Early Action Deadline of 8th September 2022. All the virtual interviews will be conducted via Zoom. The applicants who aren’t familiar with Zoom are advised to explore the video and audio settings and practice before the interview.

Four dates have been assigned for the applicants who intend to appear for ON-GROUND INTERVIEWS. They are Thursday, 8 September, Friday, 9 September, Thursday, 15 September, and Friday, 16 September 2022.

An on-Ground interview day will require travel to Charlottesville, Virginia. The Interviewees may also get the chance to observe a class in case they visit on Thursdays (that is 8th Sep or 15th Sep 2022). They can also get an opportunity to have lunch with current students and take a tour of Darden. Space for the session is very limited. 

The applicants who want tips on interviews can watch Senior Assistant Dean of Admissions Dawna Clarke’s short video on Darden’s approach to interviews. Or they can also sign up for the webinar on “All About the Application: Interviews,” which will be held on the 19th of August 2022. 

Students can also visit Darden’s site to sign up for the webinar. The results of the interviews will be announced by 19th October 2022.

Tuck Receives 52.1 million dollars in anonymous pledge

Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business has received the largest gift commitment in the school's history: a $52.1 million dollar anonymous pledge. This was announced on 7th July 2022. Although a bit late to cover this news, the pledge is to endow a recurring summit that brings together global leaders, both from the government and private enterprises, researchers, and current students, to inspire action in improving the health, wealth, and sustainability of people and the planet in the twenty-first century. The largest anonymous gift in Tuck's history will endow a new One Dartmouth initiative to develop integrative solutions to complex global challenges.

The $52.1 million donation brings The Tuck Difference campaign's total to more than $314 million. Tuck's $250 million campaign, announced in 2018, has now exceeded its targets with the combined participation of more than 81% of its alumni.

The One Dartmouth initiative endowed by the anonymous pledge will spark interdisciplinary solutions guided by rigorous research and infused with visionary leadership. The forum will invite Dartmouth faculty and students from the Geisel School of Medicine,  the Rockefeller Center for Public Policy, Thayer School of Engineering, the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society, Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies,  and the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding.

The initiation will also unite Dartmouth students and scholars with business and leadership experience. The forum will give participants the opportunity to learn from one another as they develop new approaches to solving future problems. The summit will also look at how public policy, health care, climate change, politics, and finance all intersect to address global challenges.

The inaugural summit is being planned, and the details for the same will be announced in the new academic year.
