We know her for building @abantuworld and delivering incredibly moving sets. After playing Fabric for @kilimanjaromusic show on Friday, shutting it down at Stokvel’a @join_the_community on Saturday, we have Charisse C on the mic today 🤩 We’ll get into her top 10 tracks, as well as talk about her experiences to date.

Charisse C can best be described as a multi-faceted powerhouse. DJ, artist, singer/songwriter, founder of @abantu.world, one half of ‘the ascension’ and NTS resident, she has long stood in the vanguard of South African dance music.

Previously a music journalist, she describes herself as both a vessel and storyteller. Rooted in her zimbabwean and south african heritage, raised in the UK, Charisse C has been acclaimed by mixmag as “building a bridge between continents,” and coined the “authority on the genre” by benji b. Her sound is curious, soulful and bass-heavy; commanding international dance floors with a playful and intentional demeanor.

Abantu, which began as a radio show and podcast in 2020, has since evolved into a record label and party curated and headlined by Charisse C.
