Darren Young is the current manager of League 2 champions Stirling Albion, who are enjoying a stable first season back in Scotland's third tier. While establishing himself as an expert gaffer in the lower leagues, he has constantly overcome budget related hurdles throughout his managerial career in Coatbridge with Albion Rovers and in Leven with East Fife. Last season's charge to the title had Darren in elite company, being nominated for Scottish Manager of the Year with Stephen Robinson, James McPake and eventual winner Ange Postecoglou.
As a player, Darren spent a number of years at both Aberdeen and Dunfermline, as well as stints at Dundee, Queen of the South, Morton, and a fairy-tale ending at Alloa. This interview may be packed with insightful managerial tips, but most importantly a number of superb stories which include famous faces in the Scottish football world. If you're a supporter of one of the clubs that Darren is connected to, or you're just a nosy punter, we go behind the scenes of what life was like off the park at some of Scotland's biggest clubs, so plenty to get head first into!
I cannot express how much I enjoyed this chat with Darren. He's truly a class act and a brilliant credit to the Binos up in Stirling. Having another SPFL manager on is the show so early on is wonderful, and we've got more from where that came from đź‘€.
Once again thanks to you all for your relentless support, it's what keeps me at it! Share it around (especially any fans coming over from Stirling Albion) if you've a pal, a gran or a goldfish you think would enjoy it. Got a double header coming for you next, a wee bit of something different!
