Listen Later

This week, Rachael talks to Emma who is a data analyst in the pharmaceutical industry. Emma originally wanted a career in medicine so that she could help others but when she felt her grades weren’t good enough, she thought she’d have to give up her dream. But as we discuss in this episode, data is everywhere therefore data scientist roles are also everywhere, with demand for these roles have tripled over the past 5 years! Emma shares her career journey demonstrating how she was able to find a role that still enabled her to have a positive impact on patients, what it’s like being one of the first people to see the results of a new drug trial as well as the typical challenges you might face in a data analyst role. We also touch on the key skills required to be a data analyst, what career progression looks like as well as lots of great career advice that is relevant to any career.
