As the black male slave looked from the backyard to glance at the white misses- she was everything he had wished that his black woman could be. She was bathed, dressed ,well spoken , and just as soft as the cotton he had just  picked. Meanwhile he looked at the White master walking around in the freedom he wished he had and yearned to be able to claim a piece of land as his own.

The Black female slave who accompanied the black male slave- too glanced up at the white master, whom was everything she had wished her black man could be. He was confident, lacked fear, and was able to make critical decisions at moments notice. Yet always watching how he treated the lady of the estate, wishing it could be her. Meanwhile she looked at the white misses, able to not worry about much but the way she looked in her fancy frock, and making sure her husband was satisfied was her only concern. How the black woman had pictured herself behind that white picket fence!
