On this episode of the Simply Straight Talk Show, Reggie tackling the topic of why people want to change others when they start dating.
Nothing can make you question your self-esteem like dating a person who feels they person they met standards need to be changed. I know this from personal experience. I've dated people who've told me you need to dress more like this person or I need to start doing other things and stop wasting time on my hobby. So this makes me ask the question, what makes a person excepting of you when they first meet and then decide to rewrite who you are when you start dating.
We also must determine what things are acceptable to ask a person to change about their life. I do feel there are some things we should change if it means we are going to have a healthier relationship.
This also brings into question the honesty of a person during the initial dating stages. For example, If I asked someone is there anything about me that bothers you and she says no, but three months into the relationship she says I never liked the idea of you being a writer. Do you think this is fair?
Don't forget to like and subscribe to the show. Tell us how you feel about people asking you to change. Also, what are some things you think a person should not request you to change about yourself?
