From an affordable turbocharged sedan to a V8-powered off-road pickup and a newly updated family SUV, this episode of You Auto Know with Dave Stall covers three very different 2026 vehicles. Dave starts with the 2026 Kia K4 GT-Line Turbo, praising its strong combination of performance, technology, safety features, interior space, and value. With a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, 8-speed automatic, available Harman Kardon audio, surround-view camera, ventilated seats, and Kia’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, Dave sees the K4 GT-Line as a compelling choice for commuters, younger drivers, and anyone looking for an affordable sedan that’s actually fun to drive.

Kristen Barclay joins Dave to review the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2, powered by the 6.2-liter V8 producing 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Kristen likes the ZR2’s rugged styling, roomy cabin, factory two-inch suspension lift, Multimatic DSSV dampers, Multi-Flex tailgate, numerous bed tie-downs, and genuine off-road capability. The big question is whether buyers really need the more expensive extreme-performance trucks when the ZR2 delivers plenty of capability for considerably less money. There are compromises: the large hood treatment can interfere with visibility, the interior feels somewhat plain for the price, fuel economy is around 16 mpg, and shorter drivers may quickly find themselves shopping for running boards.

Dave also gets behind the wheel of the updated 2026 Mazda CX-5, which combines a 2.5-liter engine, six-speed automatic, all-wheel drive, and Mazda’s traditionally strong road manners with a much more technology-focused interior. The big change is the expanded center display and the movement of numerous vehicle settings into the touchscreen. Dave appreciates features such as blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bose audio, heated and ventilated seating, and the CX-5’s handling, but questions whether moving frequently used controls and driver personalization functions into the center screen makes everyday operation unnecessarily complicated.

Imagine 250 air-cooled Volkswagens taking over a beachside street in Imperial Beach, a Brazilian samba band moving through the crowd, rare VWs everywhere you look, and a community coming together to raise money for local causes. That's the 13th Annual Air-Cooled Fiesta en la Playa, and this episode of V-Parts Radio gives listeners a behind-the-scenes look at what makes the event so special.

Host Dave Stall sits down with Mario, longtime VW enthusiast and club organizer, along with John Harder, an 83-year-old Volkswagen owner with an incredible story of his own. John has owned his 1967 Volkswagen Beetle since December 30, 1967—more than five decades with the same car.

The Air-Cooled Fiesta en la Playa happens September 20th from 9 AM to 2 PM on Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach. Admission for spectators is completely free, while vehicle registration is $35 on the day of the show. The first 150 registered vehicles even receive a commemorative event T-shirt.

The city closes the street for the event, creating a Volkswagen takeover with show cars near the pier, off-road vehicles on the sand, vendors, music, food, and enthusiasts coming together from throughout Southern California and beyond.

But there's a bigger purpose behind the fun.

Mario explains that after covering the significant cost of producing the event, proceeds are donated back into the community, including support for the Cuyamaca College Scholarship Fund, San Diego healthcare organizations, and the Boys & Girls Club of Imperial Beach.

One Beetle — More Than 50 Years of Memories

John's story may be the highlight of the episode.

His 1967 Beetle eventually spent 17 years sitting beside his house deteriorating. After retiring, John decided it was finally time to bring the car back.

Over roughly a year and a half, he completed about 95% of the restoration himself.

The result?
