This week we're bringing you an interview from the Camden New Journal vaults: an interview with Dave Tomlin - a seminal figure in north London's counter culture scene of the 1960s.
A legend of the squatting movement, in 1975 having been staying in squat in Belsize Park he was looking for someplace new to live.
One day he walked down Avenue Road, in Swiss Cottage, and he noticed a large, attractive house which had clearly been left empty for some time.
It was the Cambodian embassy which had been abandoned by diplomats when the Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot instigated a violent coup in the country.
Dave and his friends climbed in and made it their home for 15 years before the Home Office was able to finally evict them.
During that time it became a hub of artistic creation and appreciation known as The Guild of Transcultural Studies.
