The Hat's Too Small
The hat's too small, I said.
They replied, the problem may be your head.
And as our Christmas Party began
One friend showed me so I might understand
By putting on the hat that covered her face
That the hat was not the problem in the first place.
So on her head the hat went then fell
All the way down - (whose face I will not tell).
The hat's too tight, I said again.
Then others at the party began to chime in.
They all agreed: the problem is not the hat.
And others were wearing hats that
Fit fine upon each just perfect head..
The hats too small, again I plead....
Another's hat decorated with lights and things
Fit fine on her head they said...and that brings
Them all into the fray about the sizing of the hat...
The hat is not the problem, and that is that.
Again I said, the hat's too small, it just doesn't fit...
But they would have none of it...
The problem is not the hat at all -
I could tell they were having a ball
Of course and it was at my expense,
But I continued to present my defense..
I pulled it down as far as it would go
Tugging, yanking, pulling.. all just to show
Them that, indeed, the problem was the hat..
Although tall, it was too small.. that was that.
We never resolved whether it was hat or head...
But decided to party on instead.
