We’re told, but David encouraged himself in the Lord His God. Some versions say he strengthened himself in the Lord His God. I believe this means he turned inwards and somehow found strength, motivation and a will to go on in God.

I believe David encouraged himself in the Lord by recalling the greatness of God and bringing to mind again, all that God had done for Him up to that point. I’m so grateful that he did. I followed his example so many times over the years.
