A leading sports lawyer says an Australian Football League player could face criminal charges for a nasty on field assault.
AFL West Coast player Andrew Gaff faces a tribunal hearing after breaking the jaw of Fremantle rival Andrew Brayshaw, with single punch.
International Athletics Integrity Unit chairman, David Howman, says the matter could go before the courts if the victim decides to press charges.
He told Mike Hosking a court case wouldn't be without precedent.
"We had one here in New Zealand a number of years ago when a law professor at Otago prosecuted a very prominent rugby player."
