In this episode of Doing the Opposite: Business Disruptors, Jeff Dewing speaks to David James Drake. David started out in banking for the Bank of Boston and Lloyds Bank, moving into the chemical industry in the early 90s.  Since then, he has been at the forefront of his industry and is now President of the Brazilian Cleaning Association.

David explains how, as an American-Irishman he ‘did the opposite’ by choosing to base his life and work in  Brazil. David used a long-term vision combined with an astute assessment of the Brazilian economy to his advantage.

Unlike most businesses, David’s company grew rapidly during the early months of the pandemic with investment in factories and large-scale recruitment. David explains why this was necessary and how he realised this ambition, whilst also increasing efficiencies.

David also shares what he is most grateful for in life, and what he hopes to be remembered for.
