David Kasdan is a bassist and backup vocalist for Messianic bands The Trees Will Know and The Pear Republic. He runs the podcast Messianic Media, a discussion of Messianic, Christian and secular artistic works. He also works as a wedding and event videographer.

I first got to know David Kasden when he interviewed me for his podcast, Messianic Media. At that point, 5 years ago, I volunteered with the UMJC as the editor of the Achot(sisterhood) newsletter. David grew up as a part of a messianic synagogue; his father, Barney Kasdan, is a Messianic rabbi and author. We talk a little about what it is like to be a Messianic Jew when there's not a congregation nearby. We recorded this episode in August 2020.
