David Rohl proposes a radically revised Egyptian chronology that shifts key dynasties by hundreds of years, creating new alignments between Egyptian history and the Bible. His model appeals to some because it seems to offer stronger archaeological support for events like Israel’s time in Egypt and the Exodus. However, most scholars reject his approach because it disrupts well-established historical anchors—especially Assyrian and Hittite chronologies tied to fixed astronomical events. While popular in documentaries, Rohl’s reconstruction is considered flawed and inconsistent when compared with broader ancient Near Eastern evidence.
