Though David was anointed as Israel’s next king, he returned to life as a shepherd, and even served the very king he would one day replace. In 1 Samuel 16, we see David use his gifts to help Saul, modeling humility and trust in God’s timing. This season of waiting shaped David’s heart and pointed to the greater King to come: Jesus, the Suffering Servant who laid down His life for us. We explore how this story challenges us, and our families, to serve with humility and become more like Christ.
