This episode is all about the truth – and why we don’t tell it.

A huge value of the Crank it Up show and the Amplified Living brand is that we want to be people who Tell the truth, all the time, with compassion. David’s solo round today is an examination of the reality of lying – why we lie, why we struggle not to lie, and how we can overcome it.

Lying develops in people at a very young age. Children can manipulate even as infants, crying when they aren’t really in need, listening to see if anyone is coming, then crying again. It only gets worse from there. Lying is part of our psyche and it creates a divide between people that makes life and relationships harder and more complex. You’ve heard the old joke that one lie often requires another. It’s true.

David is a fellow struggler. He’s very honest in this episode, telling his own story about a life of lying, why he did it, and the devastating results it had on himself and his relationships. Lying can destroy your life, whereas telling the truth can set you free, heal relationships, and build trust that you never imagined possible.

Whether it’s for reasons of self-protection, fear, trying to impress, or whatever, you owe it to yourself to purge untruth from your life. You can do it, but you’ve got to understand the reasons behind your lying first. This episode should help you take those first steps into the examination of your own lying tendencies to discover when you began lying and how it has taken a strong place in your life. Then you can begin moving toward the freedom that truth alone can give you.
