We talk to David Vines a professor of economics at the University of Oxford. He explains what economics is, the difference between microeconomics and macroeconomics, and why we need it at all.

We then discuss rebuilding trust in the financial system after the 2008 crisis, the subject of his book "Capital Failure". He argues that fixing our financial system involves remodelling the practice of finance on professionalism.
