PSALMS 15-21
David's Pleas
"We often imagine the Psalms as private compositions prayed by a shepherd, a traveler, or a fugitive. Close study shows all of them to be corporate; all were prayed by a community and in the community." -Eugene Peterson

PSALM 16:8-10

MATTHEW 28:6
He is not here; he has risen
ACTS 13:34-37
God raised him from the dead so that he will never be subject to decay. As God has said, "I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.' So it is also stated elsewhere: "You will not let your holy one see decay.' "Now when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed. But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.
PSALM 16:11
Right Hand
ACTS 2:24-32
God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. David said about him: "'Isaw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.' "Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.

"The deep places in our lives - places of resistance and embrace - are reached only by stories, by images, metaphors and phrases that line out the world differently, apart from our fear and hurt."

nations
EPHESIANS 3:4-6
In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revelaed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets.
This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.
2 CORINTHIANS 1:20-22
No matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
PSALM 18:50
to David and to his descendants forever
PSALM 18:49-50
Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing the praises of your name.
He gives his king great victories;
he shows unfailing love to his anointed,
to David and to his descendants forever.
