Despite a literal civil war, David still had tremendous love for Absolom. This type of love borders on the extreme: extremely good AND extremely dangerous. Good because it is illustrative of the love that God has for us. Dangerous because we are human, and it can get in the way of the good of our families and the good of our church. In spite of our skewed perspectives, we must keep God's will and God's wisdom firmly in front of us at all times.
