In 2017, I had the opportunity to interview former CIA analyst John Nixon about an experience very few people could ever describe firsthand: sitting across from Saddam Hussein and interrogating him following his capture by U.S. forces in 2003.
Nixon later told the story in his book, Debriefing the President: The Interrogation of Saddam Hussein.
In our conversation, we talked about what Saddam was really like face-to-face, what surprised Nixon during the interrogations, what he learned—and how some of what he discovered challenged assumptions the United States had made about Saddam and Iraq.
Nearly a decade later, Nixon’s story is back in the spotlight with the television series High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam. It seemed like the perfect time to go back into my archives and share our original conversation again.
Before it became a television series, I talked to the man who actually lived it.

Feeling tired, struggling with your weight, dealing with brain fog or inflammation, or simply not feeling quite as good as you used to?
The reason may go deeper than you think.
Bestselling author Dr. Josh Axe joins me to discuss his new book, Heal Your Cells: Reversing the Irreversible—A Proven Plan to Heal Faster, Reclaim Energy, and Unlock Longevity.
Our cells are at the foundation of how our bodies function, repair and age. In our conversation, Dr. Axe explains what can damage cellular health, the role chronic inflammation plays, and how nutrition, supplements and everyday lifestyle choices can support the body’s natural repair processes.
We also talk about aging and longevity—and whether some of the symptoms and changes we’ve come to accept as inevitable may not be so inevitable after all.
It’s a conversation filled with practical information about what’s happening inside our bodies and, more importantly, what we can actually do about it.

Some years, Christmas looks quieter—and that’s okay.
Dr. Jackson and I talk about giving yourself permission to take a pass from the pressure. A full pass or a partial one. No explanations required.
Because the season can still be merry and bright without all the things. And sometimes, honoring your healthy habits—rest, movement, nourishment, boundaries—is the most meaningful gift you can give yourself. You don’t have to wait for January 1 to begin again. You can start the new year now, by choosing peace.
If this resonates, you’re not alone.

This holiday season, HGTV’s Stars of Home Town, Ben & Erin Napier, are serving up Neighborsgiving in partnership with Bob’s Red Mill and their Moregetherness movement. From cookies on your doorstep to neighborhood swaps, they show how a little homemade food can spark connection, build community, and make everyone feel a little less lonely. Who knew generosity (and carbs) could taste this good?

From viral outrage to violent rhetoric — are we even talking anymore, or just fighting to be heard?
My thoughts on the collapse of conversation and the rise of chaos, and why it’s time to choose curiosity over conflict before we forget how to talk at all.
Abraham Lincoln was a loner who changed the course of history. At a time when we’re more divided than ever, his story feels more relevant than ever.
In this episode, I talk with Jonathan Shapiro, lawyer, writer and author of How to Be Abe Lincoln, about what it really means to lead with integrity, humor, and heart — even when you feel completely alone.
It’s a conversation about courage, compassion, and the kind of quiet strength the world still needs.
Tune in for an inspiring conversation about what it means to be a little more like Lincoln, right now.
Stuck in endless political arguments? There is a way out.

In How The Poor Can Save Capitalism: Rebuilding the Path to the Middle Class, John Hope Bryant, presents practical ways to bring financial inclusion, opportunities, and hope to America’s struggling economic majority.
Fully 70 percent of our economy is powered by consumer spending, not by business or government. And it’s not wealthy consumers who are driving economic growth in this country. It’s the bottom 80 percent of Americans by income, who spend 90 percent of their pay every year.
This book is NOT about socialism and it’s definitely not about communism.
John Hope Bryant is an entrepreneur, author, advisor, and one of the nation’s most recognized empowerment leaders.
