Today’s reading is a reminder that joy comes the more we place our confidence in Jesus and the cross. The more faith I put in myself the less joy I feel. If I believe God’s love depends on my behavior I will either feel shame or arrogance, but never joy. Joy comes the more I think about how much I need Jesus.
