Around the hem of the high priest's robe, alternating: a golden bell, a pomegranate, a golden bell, a pomegranate. As long as the bells rang, the people waiting outside knew he was alive. The work was continuing. Their offering was being carried. And on his forehead, three words: Holy to the LORD. Not his holiness. Assigned holiness—so imperfect worship could be accepted anyway.
