Our souls can’t find rest because:
1. We want what we can’t have
2. We don’t know how to stop
3. We are not sure where we’re headed
4. We are afraid
5. We don’t have enough
6. We are unsure about the future
Psalm 23 (NKJV)
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
-When you want what you cannot have… Put confidence in your shepherd
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
-When you don’t know how to stop… Go to green pastures
“He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.”
DAILY PRAYER EMPHASIS: THE MILITARY
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” —Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
Pray for loved ones and church members who are currently serving in the military. Pray for veterans who are struggling with wounds, both physical and mental, from their time serving. Pray also for military families.
