1 Samuel 8 and 9 sees the unfortunate truth of God's people: the Israelites have rejected the ruling of God and demand a king of men rule their people. Despite this, God had already selected one of His chosen people, through His mercy of choosing us every time, to lead His people as the first king of Israel.
