Guiding Scriptures: Proverbs 15:21, 'Folly brings joy to one who has no sense, but whoever has understanding keeps a straight course.'
written by: Torrie Slaughter
1 Samuel 25:2-3 Abigail was an intelligent and beautiful woman, but her husband Nabal was wealthy, crude, and foolish(1 Samuel 25:25). David sent messengers to Nabal to request provisions and let him know how they protected his flocks. However, Nabal claimed ignorance and spoke harshly to David's men. (1 Samuel 25:10)
Our guiding scripture for today's readings is the thread that links all our passages. Rejecting wisdom and the opportunity to align with God is folly. Nabal in our Old Testament reading and the religious leaders and people in the New Testament shared that mindset. It is present today, those who reject wisdom and truth.
