As the famine continues, Jacob agrees to send Benjamin with his sons back to Egypt. They return with gifts and double the money. Joseph sees Benjamin and prepares a meal for his brothers, seating them by birth order.

Joseph then tests his brothers by placing his silver cup in Benjamin’s sack. When the cup is discovered, the brothers are brought back before Joseph. Judah steps forward and pleads for Benjamin’s release, offering himself in Benjamin’s place.

At this point, Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers. He sends the others away and weeps aloud. Joseph tells them who he is and asks about their father. He instructs them to return to Canaan, bring Jacob and their families to Egypt, and prepare to live there during the famine.

Pharaoh supports Joseph’s plan, and the brothers return home with supplies and the news that Joseph is alive and ruler in Egypt.
