Jacob traveled to the land of his mother’s people and came to a well in the field. Shepherds were there with their sheep to give them water. Rachel, the youngest daughter of Laban, the brother of Jacob’s mother, arrived with sheep to be watered. Jacob rolled the stone from the well and watered the sheep for Rachel. He rejoiced because he had found a woman from his mother’s bloodline. Laban welcomed Jacob in their home. Jacob agreed to work for seven years for the hand of Rachel. Laban tricked Jacob and gave him Rachel’s sister, Leah. It was not customary to give the younger daughter before the older. Jacob worked seven more years for the hand of Rachel. Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah. The Lord blessed Leah with four sons.
