Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 19:1Ā 'Better the poor whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.'
written by: Torrie Slaughter
Why would anyone desire to be poor? While Proverbs 19:1 implies that wealth doesn't always go to those who deserve it, we can meditate on the richness of God.
Christ makes our existence better. He improves on and surpasses the quality of life we think we achieve without Him. By recognizing the difference between gaining materials and growing in wisdom helps us live godly lives. We can apply the command to love in every area. (Mark 12:30-31)
King Solomon instructs us to be blameless as we go through life. How can we achieve that if not for Jesus? He is the One who guides us into understanding through the gift of the Holy Spirit. As we become sensitive to pride and understand how one emotion destroys our Christian testimony, our awareness of God's nearness becomes clearer.
As Christ-followers, we aspire to do the right thing with fairness, honesty, and truthfulness. The personality trait of Jesus will shine through in our actions if we do not waver or give in to pride.
