Day 2 | A Lying Apple Tree
Welcome to Day 2 of the Negativity Fast and Positivity Feast!
As we’ve mentioned, this first module will focus on our beliefs about ourselves. One of the main reasons for negativity is our agreement with lies that past experiences have influenced us to believe about ourselves, instead of believing the truth about God’s promises and who He created us to be. If an apple tree has never had apples, many would seemingly conclude that it does not have the “gift of apples.” Taking this thought further, what would happen to a baby if he determined his future based on the past? He would think, "I have never walked before, so I don't have the gift of walking. I must only have the gift of crawling." No, a baby gets his identity by looking at his parents, and we determine our future not by looking at the past, but our Father God to determine what we will do and who we actually are.
Those who filter their beliefs about themselves through the lens of past experience will be more negative than those who focus on God’s promises and the belief that they will mature into the lifestyle and beliefs Jesus walked in – after all, we are made in His image!
Today's Lie to Fast
I don't see evidence in my life of who God says I am, It must mean that's not who I really am.
Today's Truth to Feast
I am made in God's image - I am who God says I am
IGNITE TODAY'S TRUTH
Think today about who God says that you are. What promises has He given you about your future, whether through scripture or individually? Wendy often uses the example of how God told her to declare that she was an author before she had ever written a book. Make a list today of two to three positive identity statements based on promises about your future that you would like to go after in this fast with positive declarations (e.g. I’m an author!). Then declare them like you mean it!
