Day 21 of 21 Days of Praying Like Jesus

Listen Later

Day 21: Luke 23:46

46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.

Prayer Lesson: Jesus’ final words on the cross were acknowledging that He had done what the Father had sent Him to do. And then He “breathed his last.” He died to pay for the price of sin. Thanks be to God that breathing His last did not mean His life was over. If so, His death would have been a waste. Romans 4:25 (NIV) says “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” Biblical justification means “to be declared righteous.” It’s Jesus’ resurrection that makes us right with God. By defeating death, sin, and Satan, we can experience new life in Christ. The Spirit who helped raise Jesus from the dead, is the same Spirit who indwells every person who has placed their faith in Christ. Wow, how’s that for motivation in prayer? There is resurrection power available to us. God cares about the little things in our lives but He also wants us to pray, and pray big! We have not because we ask not (James 4:2). Pray, and pray big - resurrection power is available to you.

Prayer for Today: What would be some big prayers in your life? Don’t be afraid to ask with confidence. Jesus said faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains (Matthew 17:20). We don’t need big faith; small faith with a big God will do. End this journey by praying big!
