The good shepherd that speaks of Jesus in the gospel of John is promised in Ezekiel 34 through 36; the Lord rejects the false shepherds that don't tend their flock, that don't search for the lost, that rescues them from danger, and declares that He will place a true good shepherd to lead and rule over His people.
