Day 28 - Jacob's Ladder (Christ on the Cross)
Today we read chapters 27 and 28 of Genesis, including Jacob's blessing from Isaac and Jacob's vision. This heavenly ladder and the descending of angels is a comparison to Jesus that He Himself makes in the book of John, and it reflects the heavenly nature of Jesus and how He is the cornerstone of His church.
In today's reading of Genesis 20 through 22, God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son to test his devotion to Him. This picture reflects the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, and how He is the provided lamb of sacrifice for our sins.
