The Assyrians invaded the cities of Judah. The king of Assyria sent a messenger to speak to Hezekiah, who sent representatives to hear what the messenger would say. The messenger condemned and taunted them for trusting in Egypt. The messenger said that no god would rescue them from the hand of Assyria. They were told to make peace with Assyria and surrender to them. Hezekiah sought help from Isaiah, who sent word that God would deliver Judah from Assyria. Hezekiah prayed to the Lord. Isaiah prophesied that Assyria would not overtake Judah. An angel of the Lord struck down 185,000 Assyrians, then the king of Assyria was struck down by two of his sons while he was worshiping his gods.
