The Lord gave a message to Jeremiah that His people would be under the control of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. He told His people not to listen to the false prophets who were telling them they would not serve Nebuchadnezzar. The Lord promised to bring His people back from Babylon in His timing and restore them. Hananiah falsely prophesied that the Lord would bring His people from Babylon along with the vessels from the Lord’s house within two years. Jeremiah received a word from the Lord that Hananiah prophesied falsely and would die within the year. Hananiah died in the seventh month of that same year.
