Jesus traveled through Samaria, something Jews avoided. Samaritans were considered a mixed people because they intermarried with tribes who worshiped other gods. Jesus told a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well that He was the Messiah. The woman believed and returned to her town to tell others. Many Samaritans believed because of the woman’s testimony and because they heard the words of Jesus. An official asked Jesus to go to his home and heal his son. Jesus sent the official home and told him his son would live. The official’s son was healed at the very moment Jesus spoke these words. The official and his household believed.
