Day 6: Vowel modification part 2

Listen Later

In this episode of the making musical quantum leaps, we are going to talk about vowel modification, a technique that singers use to adjust the sound of their vowels in order to achieve a more consistent and pleasing tone, especially in the higher part of their range. Vowel modification involves changing the shape of the vocal tract, which affects the resonance frequencies of the sound. By aligning the resonance frequencies with the fundamental frequency (the pitch), singers can enhance the quality and power of their voice.
We will discuss the different types of vowel modification, such as passive, active, and substitution, and how they can help singers to avoid breaks and cracks in their voice, and to improve their vocal technique and expression. We will also give some examples of vowel modification in classical and contemporary singing, and some tips on how to practice and apply vowel modification in different songs.
To learn more about vowel modification, you can also check out some of the resources that we have linked in the description below. They include articles and videos that explain the acoustics and physiology of vowel production, and demonstrate the benefits of vowel modification for singers.
