God called a Sabbath Year for the land the Israelites would possess. The land would not be sown, and the vines would not be pruned during the seventh year. There would be a “jubilee” every fiftieth year. The land would not be sown. The vines would not be pruned. God instructed the Israelites to be kind to poor brothers. Poor brothers who became slaves to another could be redeemed. The cost would be calculated according to the years left in their agreement. God reminded the Israelites that they were servants to Him. He brought them out of Egypt.
