God warned the people not to make or worship idols, but to worship Him alone. He promised to provide and protect Israel if the people worshiped Him alone. If Israel turned from God and refused to obey His commands, God would turn from them. If Israel would humble themselves before God, He would remember His covenant, and bless them. God gave Moses instructions for the priests to follow when accepting vows, or commitments to God to benefit the workings of the tabernacle.
