In Numbers 17 through 20 we refer to the rock (Christ) that Moses strikes with his staff (the cross) that reveals the living water. This rock, which God commands Moses to now speak to instead of strike, reflects how we only need to speak the name of Jesus to receive this living water, since He has already died for us.
