God gave the Canaanites over to Israel. The people grumbled against God and against Moses. God punished the people by sending serpents. Many were bitten and died. The people asked Moses to pray for the Lord to take the serpents away. God told Moses to make a serpent and set it on a pole. If anyone was bitten, they were to see the serpent on the pole and live. Israel continued on their journey, remembering God’s provisions of water at the well in Beer. God continued to protect Israel and allowed them to conquer those who would oppose them.
