Guiding Scripture: Luke 4:1 (NLT), "Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness."
written by: LaVonda McCullough
Have you ever been tempted? Sometimes we feel that if the Holy Spirit leads us, it will always be sunny days. That is not necessarily true. Jesus was led into a long and challenging testing season in the wilderness. Adam and Eve were tempted in the garden of Eden by this same enemy present today that will tempt us.
I remember when we lived in Phoenix, Arizona. It was a dry and desert place, not only visible as surrounded by cactus, rugged brown landscapes with tumbleweed, but spiritually and emotionally, I was in a desert place. I was tempted to walk away from my faith and my marriage.
When we discover ourselves in places of temptation, it is more important than ever to use the Word of God as our weapon. Three times, Jesus spoke the Word to overcome the temptation He faced.
