In Deuteronomy 8 through 10, he tells the next generation of Israelites the story of how he got the 10 Commandments and his journey to approaching the promised land. He makes it very well known to the descendants of their unbelieving ancestors to fear the Lord, how man can "not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." These very chapters of the Bible are the Word of God that Jesus uses to overcome His temptation in the wilderness.
