Episode Summary:
This past labor day weekend the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Annual Telethon took place. The telethon raises funds for research into cures for Muscular Dystrophy, camps for children with these disabilities and adaptive equipment and wheelchairs. This year, in response to the perceived negative images and sterotypes utilized for fundraising, disability bloggers are protesting the telethon. Others express staunch support. This episode explores some of the issues surrounding the creation of the public perception of disability through media fundraising tactics.
This episode also offers a legislative update on ADA Restoration legislation currently in Congress.
