Episode Summary:

GINA, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act has passed both the House and Senate and is expected to be signed into law today, May 21st, 2008. This bill was created to protect individuals from genetic discrimination by employers and insurers. If an individual is healthy but has a genetic predisposition to a specific disease or disability, the legislation would prevent health insurers and group health plans from refusing to cover them or from charging them a higher premium.
