In this episode of the Creating the Hebrew Calendar series, we continue building the calendar by looking at the Day of Simon—a day established in remembrance of a victory led by our forefather Simon and kept with gladness, thanksgiving, and music.
We walk through key scriptures in 1 Maccabees to understand who Simon was, the spirit he carried, and why his leadership remains such a powerful encouragement for us today.
We then practice calendar creation together by using 1 Maccabees 13 to identify the exact timing of this observance—showing how to count from the second month and apply the same evening-to-evening principle we’ve been building throughout this series.
This episode is also a reminder that studying the lives of our forefathers can reignite our own zeal for The Most High, especially in seasons where our fire may feel dim or we need encouragement to keep pressing forward.
