Saint of the Day: St. Hugh of Rouen; Eighth Century Benedictine bishop of Rouen, Paris, and Bayeux, France, a nephew of Charles Martel and the son of Duke Drogo of Burgundy; he was named the bishop of Rouen in 722; he then moved to Paris and later to Bayeux; at the same time he was abbot of Fontenelles and Jumieges; at the close of his life, Hugh retired to Jumieges and died in 730 as a simple choir monk
