Washington Mayor Vincent Gray said he would not resign as prosecutors for the first time sought to tie him to a political scandal.
In an interview with CNN, Gray again denied any wrongdoing following the biggest guilty plea so far in the federal probe of a nearly $700,000 unlawful “shadow campaign” that was part of his successful 2010 mayoral run.
빈센트 그레이 워싱턴 시장이 불법 선거 자금을 지원한 사업가 제프리 톰슨의 유죄인정으로 ‘사면초가’에 빠졌습니다.
그레이 시장은 불법 선거자금 문제에 대한 최초 의혹이 제기된 2010년부터 줄곧 결백을 주장해 왔었는데요. 결국 도덕적 치명상을 넘어 법적 처벌까지 받을 수 있는 처지에 놓이게 됐습니다. 하지만 그는 이번 정치 스캔들로 사퇴할 의사가 없다고 밝혔습니다.
