On December 9th, 2001, novelist Michael Peterson called 911 from his Durham, North Carolina home, saying his wife Kathleen had fallen down the stairs. But when first responders arrived, what they found raised far more questions than answers.

Kathleen’s injuries, the blood evidence, and Michael’s story didn’t seem to align — sparking one of the most infamous and debated true crime cases of the last two decades. Was it an accident? A brutal murder? Or something stranger… like the infamous “owl theory”?
