As Jesus is preparing to begin his journey to the cross, John baptizes him. When Jesus comes up out of the water, heaven opens, the Spirit of God descends in the form of a dove and a voice from heaven says, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."  It is the Father’s blessing on the Son. It is a blessing on the ministry on which Jesus is about to embark.
